I don't know if you're like me, but I have a million bookmarks saved in my browser. I've tried to organize them, but somehow I can't keep track. As a designer, I love to find new blogs and websites from other artists. I've probably visited only a handful more than once. But there are a few that feature compelling content that make me come back for more.
Here are a few that I think are worth mentioning:
1. Red Lemon Club
Red Lemon Club, founded by Alex Mathers, has been a wonderful resource for me. Alex, who has worked for Google and Sony and is a self-taught illustrator, blogs for fellow creatives on how to land more clients and earn passive income, while also offering various sources for inspiration.
His emails are short and sweet, and if you sign up you will instantly receive a free e-book about landing quality clients.
Pikaland was founded by Amy Ng, an illustrator who tries to teach ideas she has learned from experience. She features illustrations from a myriad of artists, and also teaches an online class called Work Art Play.
I enjoy reading the Pikaland emails because each one features tips on how to be a better illustrator. Amy also includes examples from her own experience, which makes it feel like you're receiving sage advice from a friend.
3. Gemma Correll
Gemma Correll is an illustrator whose work seems to have been appearing everywhere lately. With just the right amount of whimsy, hand-made touch, she's created an enviable fan base.
Looking through her website, even her about page makes me laugh. Here's a response she gave to a question:
Why do your illustrations look like a five year old drew them?
I hire a five year old to do all my work for me. I pay him in fudge. His name is Alan.
If you are a fan of puns, pugs, and occasional self-deprecating humor, I recommend subscribing to Gemma's blog.
What are some of your favorite blogs?
Which websites do you find yourself visiting frequently because they inspire, offer good advice, or simply delight? I'd love to hear any suggestions. Feel free to write a comment or connect with me through any of the social media links in the footer below.
